Ultra Jump
There was a SALE on at Orbital Today, so my brother sent me to buy him something, because a) he really doesn't like the London Underground system & b) he's exceptionally lazy. I didn't leave till quite late in the afternoon, so I got there at around, but there was still time to kill, so I walked around for a bit until I ran into somebody I recognised, they were speaking on a mobile phone; before they ran off. So I made my way to Orbital Manga to purchase the item my brother had earnestly requested, Encore Sky Lynx...

I paid £40 for it, originally it was £80, so that's a 50% price cut! While I was there, I made some enquiries about a comic about an Anthropomorphic Reindeer Girl in a Bikini, but they didn't have any in, but as I'm thinking of going back at some point in mid-June, this isn't really a problem!

I've also started reading Haruki Murakami's What I Talk About When I Talk About Running, which I bought from Amazon for £3.99. Having finished After Dark, a novela that has three narratives running concurrently yet tentatively linked together, which got me to think about producing a long form graphic novel in such a style, with each chapter ebing just as long as it needs to be, whether it's three pages or thirty. I also looked briefly at Gary Spencer Millidge's Comic Book Design, finding myself drawn to the sections that concentrates on cover design. I have mentioned in the past that I feel that cover design is important & that the tile & logo should be considered as an integral part of the overall design rather than slapped onto the cover when the illustration is completed.

Oh golly. I would have liked to have been there when you made your enquiry. I suspect the expression would have been rather similar to the one an unsuspecting badge maker recently made when I asked about getting some staff badges with the word "Minion" on them.
Lol. Ah well, I should be popping in next week hopefully to drop them off, although it's starting to make me wonder if I should drop off a fair few this time as a few people have been asking about them...

Dropping off a few extra copies couldn't hurt, I happened to notice that they only had a few copies of the first volume of Mephistos as they'd sold all copies of the second volume they had in stock since I last went.

Yeah the small press section is doing well. I do wish I'd known about the sale though, I went Friday after work XD

It also appears that the lynx section is motorised, so adding 2xAA batteries will enable it to walk around, but I'm unlikely to witness this as my brother wants to keep it sealed, with the original packaging unopened. In fact he berated the fact that I hadn't bought two of them so he'd be able to open one of them up!!

Argh, I don't think I could ever be one of those collectors. I just can't stand to keep something in the box and never use it!

Earlier today, when he'd finished work he sat in the living room with the box in hand & five minutes later had opened the box & had already changed the space shuttle into a Pterosaur before shouting that he needed some AA batteries to make the toy roll along the floor as a shuttle lying on a delivery platform & waddle along as a strange winged Dinosaur before putting it all back in the plastic shell (he expected polystyrene) & putting it on a shelf out of the way.

He left the instructions & stickersheet inside the sealed plastic bag taped onto the plastic shell. I found the shuttle itself to be an amazing replica of the actual NASA vehicle. Although I was somewhat dissapointed by the lack of paint application. The cannopy had several white verticle bars, but every other detail was left to the stickersheet & without them it looked more like an unpainted model kit!
